Revit Family Files

The below links represent the Family Templates, Project Templates and Family Libraries provided within the Revit 2020 product installation for all supported languages and locales.

To apply the content files:

• Download the desired content executable to a local location

• Launch the content executable from the saved local location

• Specify the desired content location (Default destination folder “C:\Program Data\Autodesk\RVT 2020”) and choose Extract.

Step 1: Open Your Revit Project

• Launch Autodesk Revit and open the project where you want to load the family.

Step 2: Open the Insert Tab

• Navigate to the "Insert" tab on the Revit ribbon.

Step 3: Click on "Load Family"

• Click on the "Load Family" button under the Load from Library panel.

Step 4: Browse to the Local Folder

• A file explorer window will open.

• Navigate to the folder on your computer where the .RFA (Revit Family) file is stored.

Step 5: Select and Load the Family

• Select the .RFA file you want to load.

• Click "Open" to import the family into your Revit project.

Step 6: Place the Family in Your Project

• If it’s a component family (e.g., furniture, fixtures), go to the "Architecture" tab and use the "Component" tool to place it.

• If it’s a system family (e.g., walls, doors, windows), it will appear in the appropriate category in the project browser.

Alternative: Drag and Drop

• You can also locate the .RFA file in your file explorer and drag and drop it into the Revit workspace.
